Mellionnec

Mellionnec, Brittany, France

The place where our story continues.

Relax with Art and Nature. A home in the heart of Brittany, surrounded by gardens, forests and creative encounters, where we live, work and welcome guests into an evolving landscape.

Our place in Mellionnec is not simply somewhere to stay. It is a place we have been continuously creating around the things that fascinate us: art, nature, food, making, observation, conversation — and the richness of ordinary life when we give it our attention.

The gîte is part of our home and of this ongoing story. Guests live surrounded by original works by Armano and Marijana, not art chosen to decorate a holiday rental. Paintings, drawings, photographs and objects have accumulated here through years of practice and continue to move with the life of the house. There are no gallery labels and no prescribed way of looking.

“The place Marijana and Armano have created is inspiring — inside among the artworks, and outside in the garden with aromatic plants and fragrances. We loved their welcome and being invited into their artistic world, in such a peaceful and relaxing setting.”

A longère divided into three: our home, the artist's atelier, and the gîte — with its own door onto the garden.

Around Mellionnec

Chapels, stone and the saints of Brittany, a short drive in each direction.

The village

Small, rural, surrounded by forests and quiet roads, yet remarkably alive: an organic bakery, a brewery, a grocery, a pottery, a library, a restaurant, artists and an unusually rich associative life.

Walking

Lanes, woodland paths and old tracks start at the gate. The Nantes–Brest canal towpath is nearby and flat for as long as you want it.

Water

Lakes and river valleys within a short drive for swimming in summer; the Atlantic coast about forty minutes away.

Markets

A different village each morning of the week — produce, cheese, oysters, and the ordinary pleasure of buying food from the person who made it.

Culture

Documentary film, music and small festivals happen here in numbers that surprise visitors. We will tell you what is on while you are with us.

Landscape

Hedgerows, granite, woodland and moor. Sheep, horses, cows and alpacas scattered through the fields. Weather that changes four times a day, and light that makes it worth it.
